UVU — planning records for the September 10, 2025 event: event confirmation and staff text messages released; no contract, staff list, or vendor list found (request #26-221)
What we asked for: for the September 10, 2025 Turning Point USA event at UVU: (1) the event agreement, facility-use contract, and planning messages between UVU event staff and Turning Point USA's event staff; (2) any credential, access, or staff list of Turning Point USA people on campus to set up that morning; and (3) the list of vendors and contractors for the event, including audio/visual. No attendee lists or student records.
What we got: eight pages. The event confirmation (“Turning Point Club – The American Comeback,” Student Center courtyard, event 9 a.m.–4 p.m., space reserved 7 a.m.–6 p.m., expected attendance 200; it lists Major Event Assessment Committee review, a commercial-filming procedure, Facilities Grounds, and AVSE Services as a service provider). And a text-message thread between UVU Event Services and the event coordinator running to September 9, 2025. The thread shows the courtyard fountain was confirmed off “all day” for the event, a filming request was filled out, amplified sound was approved in writing, a Major Event Assessment Committee meeting took place, and campus police were brought in before the event. For the facility-use contract, the staff/credential list, and the vendor list, UVU says a reasonable search found no records. Names and contact details are blacked out by UVU under § 63G-2-305(11) and (12) (information whose release could endanger a person's safety, or the security of university property or systems), and student information under FERPA, the federal student-privacy law.
