Washington County Sheriff — fee letter for the "Tyler Robinson" / "video" emails: granted in part, $65.22
What we asked for: part (4) of the July 9, 2026 request about Tyler Robinson's surrender: all correspondence about earlier records requests for the surrender video. The office searched for emails containing both “Tyler Robinson” and “video.” After its July 22 reply warned there would be a fee, we told the office on July 25 to go ahead.
What we got: this letter, granting the request in part. The public parts of the emails would be released. Held back: personal details (birth dates, phone numbers, addresses, email addresses, names) of private people who had made requests, under § 63G-2-302(2)(d) and § 63G-2-305(51) (personal privacy, and private home addresses and phone numbers), and all emails to and from the office's attorney, as attorney-client privileged. The fee was $65.22: the work took 3½ hours, rounded down to 3 hours, at $21.74 an hour (the pay of the lowest-paid employee able to do it). Paying by card added $2.00. The letter gives 30 days to appeal the withheld parts to Sheriff Barry Golding. The office's payment-form page has been left out of this copy. The emails released under this letter are published above as the six-volume email release.
